Lily Yuen holds a photo of her and her husband Kenneth with her hands in her home in Kalihi on November 28, 2008. Eight years ago, Kenneth passed away due to complications from Parkinsons and Alzheimer's Disease.
Lily spends her mornings cooking breakfast for herself. Every day she makes toast in the kitchen and sits down to an empty table. Constantly reminding her that her beloved is no longer of this world.
Lily sits in the dining room after breakfast reminiscing about Kenneth. "He used to have toast and Vienna Sausage every morning. Well, burnt toast. He said it liked it crunchy."
Lily holds up a photo of her and her late husband, Kenneth Cha Wha Yuen. Not a day goes by, that Lily misses Kenneth dearly.
Lily pauses for a moment after glancing at a newspaper clipping about Kenneth. A fleeting memory of Kenneth passes by as she pauses to remember the 60 happy years they spent together.
Lily takes a break from housework, and pauses while looking at a photograph of her and Kenneth on a bulletin board.
Every morning Lily reads the Honolulu Advertiser and the Honolulu Star-Bulletin. She and her late husband would eat breakfast and talk about news, sports, and politics.
